About

Twenty-seven years of watching networks, turned into something you can host.

NitroNet was founded by engineers with more than thirty years in technology and twenty-seven of them in networking and large-scale data systems. We have spent that time on the collection side of the problem — which is why we think the interesting question is no longer how to draw a graph, but what an agent can do once it can actually see the network.

Where this comes from

We have built most layers of this stack before, for someone else.

Our background spans the full evolution of modern networking, and each stage left us with an opinion about what the next tool should do differently.

Protocol
RFC conformance and protocol validationTesting implementations against the specification, which is where you learn that vendors interpret the same document differently — and why vendor-aware handlers matter more than generic MIB support.
Routing
Carrier-grade routing platformsBuilding for environments where an outage is measured in customers, not tickets. Scale stops being a benchmark and starts being a design constraint.
Security
IPsec and secure networkingWork that makes the case for self-hosting obvious: some organisations cannot send their topology to a third party, and no pricing discussion changes that.
Packets
Packet capture and deep inspectionThe ground truth layer. Flow records tell you what happened; packets tell you why, and knowing both is what lets a probe emit TCP performance rather than raw counts.
Observability
High-speed telemetry and streaming analyticsReal-time pipelines turning large volumes of network data into something operationally useful — the direct ancestor of what NitroNet does with goflow2, Kafka and ClickHouse.

Why we built it

Monitoring got expensive and complicated at the same time, and neither was necessary.

NitroNet was built for engineers who care about network monitoring but want it at a reasonable price and without unnecessary complexity. That comes from years of direct customer feedback and field deployments — from watching what people actually do at 2am, rather than what the feature matrix says they should.

Priced like software, not like a meter

Per-device billing exists because vendors rent the disk your data sits on. We don't host anything, so we don't charge for it. Your first year is free and paid plans are flat.

free year · then flat

Your telemetry stays yours

Flow records, device names, configs and topology live in your own ClickHouse and PostgreSQL. Air-gapped works. Run Ollama locally and nothing leaves the building at all.

self-hosted by default

Built for agents, not dashboards

The platform ships an MCP server, so it isn't a place your team logs into — it's a capability your agents already have. Seventeen tools, callable by anything that speaks the protocol.

OTLP in · MCP out

One platform, not six

Flow, SNMP, packets, logs, synthetics, cloud, OTLP and IPAM land in one store on one clock. Correlation is only possible when the data was collected together.

eight sources, one timeline

Answers you can check

Findings are computed deterministically first and the model writes the explanation over the top. Every number in an answer came from a query you can re-run yourself.

grounded, not generated

Formerly WhiteOwl Networks

Same team, same platform, same self-hosted commitment. The name changed when the product's centre of gravity moved to agentic operations and MCP.

The fastest way to judge us is to run it.

Give it 8 vCPU, 16 GB of RAM and an Ubuntu 22.04 host with Docker. Point your exporters at it and watch the first flows land.
